The Seven

The information on the Seven you will find below is a mixture of canon (from the original show), fact (actors eye colour etc), fanon (AU back stories, character traits etc that are commonly used by more than one author) and my own personal opinions and preferences.

Chris Larabee - Leader, the man in black

Chirs

Old West – Chris has a reputation as a killer gunfighter. Wild and woolly, until he met Sarah Connolly, Chris then settled down to domestic bliss with her, raising their son Adam and horses. When Adam was 5 or 6, while he and Buck were in Mexico selling horses, the house burned down, killing Sarah and Adam. Since then Chris habitually wears black and tends toward self destructive behaviour. He and the others eventually found the man who set the fire and established that was he paid to do it by a deranged vengeful ex lover of Chris’.
ATF – After serving in the Navy as a SEAL, he joined the Denver PD and became a homicide detective, where he and Buck where partners, after his wife and son were killed by a car bomb, he began drinking heavily. When he got his life back together, he decided he needed a change and a new challenge so he left the police and joined the ATF. Who sent the bomb that killed his family remains a mystery. He lives on a ranch to the west of the city, were the team tend to gather and kick back.

Vin Tanner - Tracker, scruffy Texan

Vin

Old West:- Tends to be somewhat scruffy, a native of Texas, who has lived with Indians. He habitually slouches – due to mild curvature of the spine. Likes to compose poetry, but can’t read. His mother died of putrid fever (diphtheria) when he was very young, who his father is or was isn’t known. Wanted in Texas for a murder he didn’t commit. Before this he was a buffalo hunter and a then a bounty hunter.
ATF:- Orphaned at a young age, young Vin bounced around the Texas child care system until he finally ran away and ended up in Denver, where he spent some time as a homeless teen, but got his life together enough to go on and join the army. In the Rangers he became a sniper. After the army he became a bounty hunter and then joined the ATF. Vin struggles with dyslexia and is rather shy around strangers. He drinks his coffee very, very strong, loves junk food and as a very sweet tooth. Lives in a ‘war zone’ district of the city, nicknamed Purgatory. Vin is often portrayed as having some native American (usually Comanche) heritage.
Little Britches ~ OW:- Seven year old Vin came west with his young cousin JD on the orphan train. He’d promised his dying aunt he’d take care of her son, so when it looked like they were going to be split up he made JD runaway with him. Rescued by Chris and Buck, the two boys finally found a home with their rescuers, with Chris becoming Vin’s Pa.
Little Britches ~ ATF:- After his mother died in a shelter for battered woman, young Vin ended up alone on the streets for some months, how isn’t known. He rescued JD and the two of them lived together for another month, before Vin was grazed by a bullet from the gun of a ‘troll’ (gun runners wearing night vision goggles). When Chris’ ATF team found them Vin was close to death. After he recovered he became Chris’ foster son.

Old West – JD came west after his mother died, she was a maid in a big house, JD worked in the stables. She wanted him to go to college, but the money she had saved wasn’t enough. JD is a good shot, a fast draw and a good rider. He is also impulsive and idealistic. When no one else would do it, he took on the job of sheriff. Buck is ‘educating’ him in the ways of the west and the life of the hired gun.
ATF – Originally from the east coast, JD has a genius IQ and graduated from MIT well ahead of his peers. After college he joined the police, applying for the ATF as soon as he was old enough. A computer whizzkid, JD is no nerd, he can handle himself. He shares a condo with Buck, with whom he has a big brother/little brother relationship.

Buck

Old West – His mother was a ‘working girl’ and he was probably raised in a brothel. He loves and respects all women, but has a special place in his heart for women like his mother, which is why he never pays for sex. He has known Chris for 10 or 12 years, but their relationship is complicated. Always loyal, he loves a good fight and tries not to take life too seriously. It is Buck who takes on JD’s ‘education’ in the ways of the west, being a man and the art of being a hired gun.
ATF – His mother was a prostitute from Las Vegas, she died or was murdered when he was in his late teens or early twenties, he has no idea who is father is or was. He and Chris served in the Navy together as SEALs and then in the Denver PD. When Chris started drinking it was Buck who keep him from self destructing. These days he shares his city condo with JD; it’s known to the others as the CDC (Centre for Disease Control). Flirts with just about every woman he meets. Despite his laid back manner, he’s a highly professionally agent at all times.

His father, with whom he didn’t get on, was a missionary and he has a sister Hannah, she is severely mentally ill and is cared for in a convent in Vista City. Well read and probably highly educated, he can speak Chinese – sort of. He’s known to have killed a lot of men and has dangerous temper. Very strong, he works out to keep himself fit.
ATF – A profiler who served in the Marines. Heavily into religion, alternative beliefs, and all things spiritual. Most of the time Josiah is the very picture of calm and reason, but he has an explosive temper if the right buttons are pushed. Josiah lives in an older style house, which he is restoring. He spends much of his spare time volunteering at his local church.

Ezra Standish - Gambler, southern smoothie.

Ezra OW

Old West – Southern Ezra is a gambler, a conman and a chameleon who always has an eye for the main chance. He knows how to load and fire a canon and thus may well have served in the confederate army. He is always smartly, even flamboyantly, dressed and enjoys the finer things in life. Ezra despises any pursuit that involves sweat and/or dirt. His mother Maude, who is also and gambler and con-woman, mostly left his upbringing to others. Despite his mother’s teachings, Ezra has a good heart, is loyal to the others and usually does the right thing, carries three guns, including a concealed derringer.
ATF – After college Ezra joined the FBI in Atlanta, mostly to spite his mother, who became rich by marrying rich men, and mostly left his upbringing to servants and boarding school. In Atlanta, Ezra was falsely accused of corruption and although never convicted his career was as good as over, until Chris asked him to come to Denver. Although he carries a gun, Nathan’s preferred weapon is a knife, which he can throw with lightning speed and deadly accuracy. Although calm and not easily moved to violence, Nathan is a man of high morals, especially when it comes to the exploitation of others.
ATF – Nathan’s parents were civil rights activists. After college he joined the army, where he became a medic. Although officially his speciality is forensics, it is his skill as an EMT that is most often called on by the team. Nathan is often portrayed as being married/engaged to Rain.
